EASY TO OWN AND OPERATE
- No Scheduled Dealer Maintenance for 3 Years.
- Zero Break-In Period
- No Costly Oil Changes
- Uses Up To 30-75% Less Oil Than Competitive Technologies
That's just the start. The Evinrude E-TEC engines use an exclusive low friction design. There are no belts, no chains, no powerhead gears, no cams, and no mechanized oil pumps.
CLEANER AND QUIETER
- Cleaner & Quieter
- No Smoke
- Dramatically Lower Co Emissions
- Fuel Efficient
With a fully stratified combustion system, Evinrude E-TEC outboards are designed to comply with 2006 EPA (Environmental Protection Agency). E-TEC even meets the ultra-low 2008 CARB (California Air Resource Board) 3-Star emissions rating.
DURABILITY, QUALITY, RELIABILITY
- Oversized, Super-Tough Components
- Easy Winterisation & Storage
- No-Battery Starting
- Speed Adjusting Failsafe Electronics (S.A.F.E. Tm)
Evinrude’s E-TEC engines are super tough. In fact, our pistons are 2.5 times stronger than traditional pistons at operating temperatures, thanks to a new patented NASA alloy.
POWER & PERFORMANCE
- Better Fuel Economy
- Faster Acceleration & Top Speed
- Lighter Weight
- More Hp & Torque
When you consider the fact that the 2-stroke Evinrude E-TEC produces a power stroke every revolution and it doesn't have the added complexity of belts, camshafts, valves, timing chains and oil pumps that add weight and rob power and torque it's easy to understand why.

After a full season of long runs and hard fishing in extreme conditions and temps, I can honestly say that my 115 ETEC is all that I was told it would be. My old Merc 115 2-stroke was a good motor, in it's day. BUT, I sure don't miss the toxic fumes and smoke screen, the noise, oh the noise, the unreliability, and the premixing of the oil into the tank. Not to mention it's gas guzzling tenencies. Terrible fuel economy, but tons of torque. Gotta love those two strokes.
Now? What a treat! Even more torque and immediate throttle response. My heavy 18' fibreglass boat pops right out of the water and up on plane very quickly. That never happened before, even when the old Merc was new.
Super quiet too, you can talk normally at full throttle.
No smoke, or fumes, at all. You wouldn't even think it's a 2 stroke.
As a matter of fact, it hardly uses any oil.
The fuel consumption was absolutely stellar. I can now run a lot farther offshore, with the same fuel tank, and still have plenty for not only the trip back in, but for the next fishing trip as well. I am very impressed, and I am not easily impressed.
I winterized the Etec, myself, in my driveway. It took all of about maybe ten minutes, including fumbling with the hose. I have never done that before. I was a bit nervous about it at first, being a new motor and all, but after reading how to winterize it, then watching a guy on YOUTUBE do it, it was really simple.
Would I recommend the Evinrude Etec? Absolutely. Now I want a new kicker.
The good folks at Blue Sky Marine, in New Hamburg, were also very accomodating with my re-powering. I would also highly recommend these folks as well. Very good people to deal with.
